Jackie Vertigan, EdD, MEd, LSC
For the last 30 years, Dr. Jackie Vertigan (she/her) worked in non-profit and educational leadership, mental health, and incident management and recovery. Dr. Vertigan holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology, a MEd in counseling psychology, and a doctorate in global indigenous teaching & learning with a doctoral minor in evaluation studies from the University of Minnesota. She is a researcher, a writer, a creator, a thinker, a yoga teacher, a mom of 3 children and 1 dog, and a believer in the inherent goodness of humanity.

Julia Mosconi, MA
Julia Mosconi, MA (she/her/hers) is European American and was raised on the ancestral homelands of the Ojibwe and Lakota/Dakota/Nakota peoples in Minneapolis, MN and now lives on the ancestral homelands of the Pamunkey, Anacostan, and Piscataway peoples in Washington, DC.
She has worked for the Cobell Scholarship since the inception of its administrator, Indigenous Education, Inc., in 2016 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Community and Nonprofit Leadership with a certificate in Education Policy Studies. In 2021, Julia obtained her MA in Education Policy from George Washington University with a focus on critical race theory and educational abolition and decolonization.
When she is not pursuing her professional passions of educational equity, abolition, and decolonization, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing volleyball, and attending musical theatre shows.
Jason Matlock, MPA
A veteran leader in the area of public safety especially as it relates to school climate, security, and emergency management. Jason Matlock has twenty-five years of public service experience in law enforcement and public education, with twelve of those years spent leading the department of Emergency Management, Safety & Security for the Minneapolis Public Schools. Jason led the department as it became one of the first major urban school districts in the country to move school security away from the reliance on police and punitive practices to a more wholistic, student centered, and equitable approach without compromising safety.
Jason is an expert in his field and is often called upon by colleagues across the nation for his vast knowledge and counsel. Jason is a co-founder at Alleyne, Matlock and Associates.
Julie Young-Burns, MSN, CPNP
Julie (she/hers) has recently retired from full-time work and began a new journey as a consultant focusing on Social Emotional Learning & Wellbeing support for school and health care community members. She is a seasoned trainer, program developer and thought partner with deep passion around educational and public health equity, trauma informed care, restorative justice and establishing identity safe spaces of belonging. When not consulting or traveling, you may find Julie in the garden, hiking around Lake Superior or playing with her grand-daughters.
